Achar(acar) halia is a tart,sour,spicy and tangy pickle in a sauce. Serve with white rice,nasi lemak or nasi minyak ( with curry.)
Ingredients; 1 tablespoon oil 1 teaspoon tamarind pulp;mix with a little water and strain 1 teaspoon sugar 1 tablespoon shredded young ginger root 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed 1 large onion ;sliced 10 dried red chillies;tear and soak in hot water for 20 minutes; drain ) grind into paste 2 cloves garlic )
Method of preparation. Heat oil in a wok.Add sliced onion and mustard seeds.Saute till the onion is golden brown.Then add the ground paste.When the smell is fragrant,add tamarind juice.Stir well.Add sugar.When the sauce begins to thicken,add shredded ginger.Heat a few minutes;till the ginger is cooked.Simmer.Turn off flame.Serve with white rice,nasi lemak or nasi minyak (with curry)
