Kopi tarik literally means stretched/pulled coffee;an allusion to the frothing process.A perky coffee with a hint of ginger, cardamom and cinnamon taste.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoon freshly ground coffee
2 cups milk
2 tablespoon sugar
2cm ginger;dry roasted and coarse pounded
4 cardamom seeds;pounded
1 cinnamon stick

 

Method of preparation:

Pour milk into a pot. Add sugar and bring to a boil.Stir occassionally.Next add pounded ginger,cardamom, cinnamon stick and coffee.Cover and steep for 3 to 5 minutes.Strain the dregs.Pour coffee into a jug(mug). Grab an empty jug(mug).Hold mugs apart.Pour coffee in a steady stream from the filled mug to the empty mug.(in an arching manner);till the coffee froths.(it will take a little practise).Serve hot.

 

Note:

Similarly, teh tarik berempah(spiced frothy tea) could be made using tea leaves.
